Eddie D. Jones Park
Eddie D. Jones Park offers over 20 miles of trail throughout 800+ acres of mature hardwood forest. All trails are open to foot traffic. The 11+ mile red loop is developed for mountain biking and trail running, with short cuts (yellow) offering bypass options through more technical areas. The red trail is marked for counterclockwise travel. A 1.5 mile hiking loop (green) is available for novice cyclists and shorter walks. 9.5 miles of equestrian trails (blue) are a mix of trails and dirt roads.
The park is host to several annual trail runs, mountain bike races, and adventure recreation programs. Park staff is on duty during business hours. Restrooms and a small visitor center are maintained by the parks department.
Visitors are advised to come prepared for a wilderness type experience. Proper clothing, insect repellant and plenty of fluids to drink are recommended. In addition to the trails maintained by the Parish of Caddo Parks and Recreation Department, the park is the site of Chimp Haven, a 200-acre chimpanzee sanctuary that is operated by the non-profit group Chimp Haven, Inc., and an 82-acre Veterans Cemetery that is operated by the Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs.
